This case study examined the protection of sensitive military equipment stored within a standard 20ft shipping container located at a temporary operational logistics site. To enhance physical security and delay unauthorised access, the container was enclosed within a heavy-duty steel mesh cage complete with an integrated roof structure. The cage was manufactured using 50 x 50mm welded mesh panels formed from 5mm diameter steel wire, providing a robust barrier against intrusion, cutting attempts, and opportunistic theft.

The assessment focused on the cage’s resistance to forced entry, environmental durability, and suitability for deployment in remote or high-risk areas. Testing considered manual attack methods, portable cutting tools, and attempts to gain access through climbing or roof penetration. The mesh configuration offered strong visibility for security patrols and CCTV monitoring while maintaining airflow around the container to reduce moisture build-up and heat retention.

Results demonstrated that the reinforced mesh enclosure significantly increased attack time and operational security compared with an unprotected container. The system also provided a modular and rapidly deployable solution suitable for military storage
